SolarPACES – NREL Database:
Browse all CSP: detailed up-to-date data on all CSP projects around the world, under construction, operational or currently non-operational. SolarPACES acquires this data on concentrating solar power projects, working with each SolarPACES member nation to help utilities, financiers, manufacturers, and anyone interested in renewable energy options find information on the growing number of concentrating solar power projects around the world. This worldwide detailed data on CSP is kept up-to-date by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). For individual concentrating solar power projects, the database profiles include background information, a listing of participants in the project, and full detailed data on the power plant configuration. (CSP technologies include trough, dish, Fresnel and power tower, described here).
For each nation’s individual potential and current deployment of CSP, please select each country linked by name, and organized by most recent concentrated solar thermal energy projects:
Nations in the high DNI regions of the world are ideally suited to the deployment of CSP projects at utility-scale for power generation that includes solar power after dark. Nations within this global sunbelt are able to complement the fluctuating resources of wind and solar PV through the inclusion of the low-cost thermal energy storage intrinsic to CSP.
In addition to dispatchable solar power with CSP, these regions will be well able to host concentrated solar thermal CST (simple direct heat, no power block) projects for industrial heat processes at temperatures from 200ºC to 600ºC, and solar thermochemistry at higher temperatures up to 1500ºC for the manufacture of solar fuels such as solar hydrogen, solar ammonia, and solar jet fuel for long haul air craft.
