SolarPACES Conference Sept 27-30 Plenary Highlights

September 17, 2022

Dr Avi Schultz

Conference Chair
Concentrating Solar Thermal Power Program Manager
Solar Energy Technologies Office
U.S. Department of Energy

I’m excited to see you all in person in Albuquerque in less than two weeks, and launch the packed agenda we have for the SolarPACES conference. Kicking things off on Tuesday, September 27th, we’ll be welcomed by special guests US Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, US Department of Energy Deputy Secretary David Turk, and IEA Head of Renewables Division Paolo Frankl.

Following the welcome session, we’ve organized plenary sessions highlighting the most recent advances in commercial development, market opportunities, and research and development in CSP and thermal energy storage.

Tuesday’s agenda will feature sessions on:

-An overview of the latest global developments from leading CSP developers

-A special joint session with the DOE Energy Storage Grand Challenge Summit, held in Chicago. This session will be simultaneously streamed in both Albuquerque and Chicago, featuring speakers in both locations, discussing the latest analysis on market opportunities for CSP and long-duration energy storage

-A discussion panel featuring representatives of key US markets for CSP deployment, highlighting the opportunities for commercial CSP activity in the southwest US

Finally, Wednesday morning will feature a plenary session highlighting commercial and research opportunities for concentrating solar thermal technologies to contribute solutions to the challenges of industrial decarbonization.

I’m looking forward to enjoying these sessions, along with all of the exciting technical presentations throughout the rest of the conference.

See you soon in Albuquerque!

Sincerely,

Dr Avi Shultz
