China CSP generating records – The Urat and Gonghe pilot projects join the Delingha project in reporting generating records in operation

CSP Focus reports via email (More Detail is available for CSP Focus Membership.)

619MWh Daily Generation – Power China Gonghe 50MW Tower CSP Project

Recently, the news came from Power China Gonghe 50MW Molten Salt Tower CSP Project, after the single-day power generation reached 572,000 kWh on March 9, 2023, the single-day power generation of the CSP plant reached another record high of 619,000 kWh on March 13.

330 GWh Annual Generation – CSNP Urat 100MW Parabolic Trough CSP Project

In March 2023, the monthly generation of Urat 100MW Parabolic Trough CSP Project was 345.12 GWh, compared with the same period in 2022, an increase of 14.752 GWh; the first quarter of 2023 compared with the same period last year, an increase of 19.52 GWh.

[More detail on the current state of Chinese CSP can be found at the Blue Book published by the Chinese Solar Thermal Alliance. These figures follow the successful operation of the Supcon 50 MW pilot project at Delingha since 2018. Previously, we have covered the Supcon pilot in detail, with interviews with Cosin Solar here and here.
While, like the Delingha project, the Gonghe project is Tower, the Urat project is Trough CSP (How CSP works: Trough, Tower). Gonghe uses Supcon Trough technology, and Urat uses the Heliosol heat transfer fluid technology deployed by Royal Tech, which with Wacher was the 2017 SolarPACES Technology Innovation award winner for a novel silicon-based heat transfer fluid for Trough CSP.  Heliosol performance was tested successfully in climate extremes; where ambient temperatures can reach -30 C]
